We love spending time on the mountain, but when we’re stuck at a desk refreshing the weather forecast and waiting for the next storm, the next best thing is keeping tabs on how much snowfall is actually accumulating.
This is especially the case this week with multiple storms hitting almost all major ski resorts out west. According to OpenSnow, the Pacific Northwest and Tahoe areas have already started getting hit, and this first storm will be moving through the Central Rockies today and into Friday with heavy snow predicted.
To break it down into numbers, Aspen Highlands is projected to have 6” in the next three days, Purgatory about 11” and Silverton Mountain close to 15” for Colorado resorts looking to benefit the most from the first storm. Over in Utah, Alta is projected for 18.5” the next three to six days, Park City 16” and Snowbird 17.7”.
Those forecasts are just the beginning of what looks like multiple storms bringing great base-building snow for resorts out west as more storms are looking to follow the next week.

10. Crested Butte Resort Cam
Coming in at number 10 is the Crested Butte live resort cam. They have several perspectives overlooking the base and main lifts, but also have an official snow stake and Pow cam. We’re big fans of their hashtag #burythebutte and are digging the contrast between their signature red and black as it gets buried in the white stuff.
9. Copper Mountain Resort Cam
Next up on the list is Copper’s resort cam with a snow stake, or as they refer to it, the ‘send-o-meter’. We’re all about the commentary they have alongside the ruler so you can watch snow progress from Freshies to Pow Day (a good indicator of whether or not you should take a sick day and skip work) and eventually to Mega Deep at the very height of the Send-O-Meter.
8. Snowbird Resort Cam
Coming to number eight on the list, we have Snowbird and its iconic wing-like logo sitting behind its snow stake, one of the first resorts who added flair to watch on their webcam years ago. We’re totally ready to watch the ruler get buried and see less and less of the green and blue colors with these next round of storms hitting the Wasatch.

7. Norquay Resort Cam
These next three resort cams, deemed some of the most scenic, are sure to increase your hype for the season. Number seven on our list is Norquay, serving us two different looks; one of the Cliffhouse overlooking the town of Banff and Mt. Rundle in the background, and the other of the Cascade chair. Slightly less scenic than the first, but the snow is currently looking deep and we’re hoping to see it stay that way for the rest of the season.
6. Lake Louise Resort Cam
Lake Louise has a total of four resort cams, with our fave being the live webcam from Whitehorn Lodge. It shows a mid-mountain perspective filled with peaks and trees looking out at Mt. Temple at one of the mountain’s midday spots for a cocktail or bite to eat.
5. Banff Resort Cam
Out of the SkiBig3 trio, Banff is our favorite coming in at number five on the list. Out of the six different resort cam views, we’re digging the live webcam of Upper Sunshine Village. It makes us feel like we’re on the mountain, heading in for a hot toddy at Trapper’s Bar or to get in line at the Strawberry Chair.
4. Steamboat Resort Cam
Number four had to be the Champagne Powder Cam at Steamboat. Two of our favorite aspects of skiing combined and the two-tiered nature of the stake showcasing overnight snow since 4 p.m. on the left and the recent storm total on the right gives us double the perspective. If we’re lucky this season, the overhead label and Steamboat logos both may get buried too, an indication that it’s time to get out there to ski and see it for ourselves.
3. Big Sky Resort Cam
Coming down to our top three resort cams, we have Big Sky with five different live cams to check on recent snowfall. The two we spend most of our time watching are the Headwaters Snow Stake and Andesite Snow Stake, with the first being at 9,000 feet and the second at 8,800 feet elevation. Everything from the clock to the 24-hour total on the left and Storm Total on the right has these live cams high up on our radar.
2. Revelstoke Resort Cam
Coming in hot at number two on the list are the six cameras out of Revelstoke. They’ve done a good job of balancing chair lift views with perspectives of the mountain itself, but we’d be lying if we didn’t mark Gnorm the Powder Gnome as our go-to guy on their resort cams. Revelstoke included a note beneath him with his height, 10.6 inches, but checking in on him in the middle of a storm and watching him get buried from the bottom of his boots to the tip of his red pointy hat will never get old. Although, Gnorm may be out there getting cold…
1. Aspen Resort Cam
Our number one resort cam to watch has got to be on Aspen. With its iconic clean-cut watch face on the front and multi-layered measurement setup, it’s easy to see how much snow has piled up in the last day and the storm total after a quick glance. Current views from the live cam show sunshine and snow in the background, but as the week goes on we’re incredibly stoked to watch it get buried.
