3/4/15: Where did it snow in the Western U.S.?

For Colorado, New Mexico and Utah powder-hungry skiers and snowboarders, March has certainly come in like a lion snow leopard. Two strong storm systems, which also brought one to three feet of snow to Mammoth and the Lake Tahoe ski resorts, barreled across much of the Western U.S. within the past seven to 10 days. The first round of storm systems hit the Colorado Rockies, New Mexico’s Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Utah’s Wasatch Mountains around Tuesday/Wednesday of last week, dropping anywhere from a couple inches to more than a foot of snow. The second storm system came through in waves dropping intermittent inches throughout this past weekend through this Tuesday/Wednesday, which added up to another foot of snow at some resorts.

Not only does the new snowfall provide great snow conditions for the near future, but the added snow will ensure great spring-skiing snowpack.

Here’s who made out the best in the West:

Colorado

Canyons reported seven inches of new snow yesterday, but a Ski.com staffer, who happened to be there, reported that there was much more on wind-loaded slopes.
