Not sure where you want to ski? You want to fly into a major airport, but you don’t want to spend the other half of your day sitting on a shuttle to get to your resort? Park City is just the place for you! Only 45 minutes from Utah’s Salt Lake City International Airport, Park City boasts the quaintness of a historic mining town and is nestled among three of North America’s top 10 ski resorts: Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR), Deer Valley Resort and Canyons. Pick one or ski them all. Each resort has a distinct “personality” and are so easy to get to.
A quick overview on the lay of the land is in order. Once you’ve exited I-80, you are already in Park City. As you approach the heart of town—three miles from the exit—the first resort you come to is Canyons. Here, you have a staggering 4,000 acres of terrain to make everyone smile, and easy side country access will satisfy the most adventurous skiers. Continue down the road another three miles, and you’ll find the most central of the three, Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR)—a phenomenal family mountain with runs that allow you ski right into town for a break. There is even a chair from Main Street that takes you right up the mountain. About three miles on the other side of Park City Mountain Resort is the fabled Deer Valley. Renowned for exceptional service, dining and grooming, Deer Valley will have you feeling pampered all day long. But don’t forget, this is a skier-only mountain with no snowboarding allowed.
Main Street, Old Town and downtown all refer to the historic heart of Park City which sits between PCMR and Deer Valley. Here you will find all the shopping, dining and nightlife you can handle. There is a variety to suit all tastes.
Connecting it all is the Park City Transit system. Clean, well kept buses effortlessly whisk you around town to all of the resorts. Most lodging options are conveniently located near one of many stops. Did I mention that this is always a FREE service?
Looking for a break from skiing? Take a day off and go tubing at Gorgoza Park, explore the Olympic Museum, check out the ski jumping, or ride the bobsled (reservations required) at the Olympic Park. If you didn’t get enough shopping on Main Street, the outlet mall should do the trick. There is so much to do, you’ll never be bored! Ice skating, cross-country skiing and sleigh rides are also available right in town.
