At the heart of skiing lies a bull wheel, a haul rope, and a series of interconnected chairs bringing skiers and riders to the top of a mountain somewhere. The chairlift, which first debuted at Sun Valley Resort in Idaho in 1946, is not just a machine for helping us get to the top of our desired destination. It’s a metaphor for life, the journey, and those we meet along the way.
