Dinner And A Movie: The Blizzard Of Aahhh's + The Ultimate Charcuterie Board

In many parts of the country, we're embarking upon a "new normal" that includes a limited easing on previous restrictions. But as the Governor of Colorado, Jared Polis put it so succinctly last week, we're all still "safer-at-home" for the time being.

So this weekend, between getting fresh air and taking some much needed time in the sun, treat yourself and your household to a luxurious charcuterie board alongside the feature film that put Chamonix, France on the mind of every skier in North America. Of course, we're talking about Greg Stump's masterpiece, The Blizzard of Aahhh's. What started as a cult favorite ultimately gained mainstream notoriety and in the process, brought ski stars like Glen Plake and Scot Schmidt into the mainstream consciousness of America's youth. The result was a new era of skiing and snowboarding that continues to shape our sport to this day.

The Ultimate Charcuterie Board:

Required Items:

- 1 large, wooden serving plate

- 3 ramekins or small bowls

- 1 short knife

- 3 tablespoons

- Toothpicks

Ingredients:

- Genoa and Calabrese salami (sliced)

- Prosciutto (tranches)

- Honey Baked Ham (sliced)

- Camembert or Goat Cheese

- Bellavatino or Gouda Cheese

- Stilton or Blue Cheese

- 1 apple (sliced)

- Kalamata olives

- Fig spread

- Almonds and walnuts (whole)

- Honey

Arrangement:

Bowls: Place almonds/walnuts, fig spread, and Kalamata olives in their own bowls with accompanying teaspoons for serving purposes

Serving Plate: Giving each food group an area on the charcuterie board, use your own style and purposes for the overall layout, leaving space for fruit, cured meats, assorted cheeses, bowl, toothpicks, and knife. On the corner of the board place a large dollop of honey for dipping (goes great with stinky cheeses like Stilton).
