The Epic Pass and Ikon Pass are top multi-resort ski passes, but they differ in resort access, pricing and perks. Epic Pass grants unlimited access to 42 resorts like Vail, Whistler Blackcomb and Park City, plus limited access to Japan and Europe. Ikon Pass offers unlimited skiing at 17 resorts, including Steamboat, Winter Park and Mammoth, plus limited days at premium destinations like Aspen Snowmass, Jackson Hole and Big Sky.
Epic Pass is more budget friendly, with built-in Epic Coverage and buddy tickets, while Ikon Pass includes travel discounts, First Tracks and more premium resorts. Epic is best for skiers wanting affordable, unlimited skiing, while Ikon is ideal for those who prefer high-end, Western U.S. resorts.
Epic also has better international access (Europe, Japan, Australia), whereas Ikon offers more varied terrain across North America. For frequent skiers, Epic’s lower cost makes it a great value, while Ikon is better for those who want flexibility across premium resorts.
Which Pass Should You Buy?
Need help deciding? Our Mountain Travel Experts at Ski.com can guide you through choosing the right pass for your ski season. You can all them at 800-610-8911 or hit the chat button in the bottom right corner.
The Ikon Pass and Epic Pass do not share any resorts for the 2026/2027 ski season. The Epic Pass offers unlimited access to 42 resorts, including Vail and Whistler Blackcomb, with limited access to others like Telluride and select European destinations. The Ikon Pass provides unlimited skiing at 17 resorts, including Steamboat and Mammoth, with limited days at places like Aspen Snowmass and Jackson Hole.
While both passes grant access to international resorts, such as those in Japan, Canada and Europe, they do not overlap in terms of specific mountain access. Each pass has its own partnerships and agreements with different resort operators. If you’re deciding between the two, consider which resorts best fit your travel plans and preferred terrain, as no single pass will grant access to both Epic and Ikon resorts.
Prices for both the Epic Pass and Ikon Pass have gone up about 7% for the 25/26 season. While Ikon Pass remains the pricier option, Epic offers flexible day pass options, letting you ski for as little as $100 per day when you buy an Epic Day Pass in advance. This is a huge advantage if you know you'll be skiing next season but haven't locked in your destination yet — you can purchase now and decide on your dates and resort later.
Not sure which pass is right for you? Our Mountain Travel Experts can help. Call 800-610-8911 or hit the chat button in the bottom right corner of the page to get personalized advice!
An unlimited one-day Epic Pass including peak dates begins at $118 for an adult and $61 for a child.
Epic Pass is now on sale for the 2026/2027 season and can be purchased through December. Epic Pass sales typically open in March and remain available until early December, with early-bird pricing offering the lowest rate
The current price for an adult Ikon Pass for the 2026/2027 is $1,429 for a full adult pass.
Deciding between the Epic Pass or Ikon Pass depends on how they will be used, including how often you plan to ski and where. Technically, the Epic Pass offers more access to a larger number of different resorts, however, in the long run, it comes down to personal preference and winter vacation planning from season to season.
Each pass also offers different tiers with a different number of days per resort, some with and without blackout dates, and there is an option to buy multi-day passes as well. Our Mountain Travel Experts at Ski.com can help walk you through the different options and decide which pass is best for you.
With the Ikon Pass, you can ski 34 different resorts in the states of California, Colorado, Idaho, Maine, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.
With the Epic Pass, you can ski 37 different resorts in the states of California, Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin.
Yes, with the purchase of an Epic Pass you have an unlimited number of days to over 25 resorts in North America alone, and then unlimited days at Andermatt-Sedrun Resort in Switzerland, as well as Australian resorts Perisher, Falls Creek and Hotham.
