Being whisked up the slopes to a mountain-side dinner seems like something straight out of a fairy-tale but at many ski resorts, the option is far from make-believe. In fact, many of our favorite mountain destinations’ best winter dining is accessed via some kind of sleigh or snowcat. With that magical dining experience in mind, Ski.com has vetted the best sleigh ride dinners in ski country and we’ve narrowed the list down to these five favorites.
1) Beano’s, Allie’s, and Zach’s Cabins – Beaver Creek, CO
When it comes to hosting an open-air sleigh ride experience, nobody quite has the routine as perfected as Beaver Creek Resort. The most remote and also the most popular of the three cabins, Beano’s Cabin is a 20-minute sleigh ride on average and features elevated American fine dining options. Some of the house favorites include an out-of-this-world Wagyu Flat Iron Steak as well as fresh seafood fare prepared by executive chef, Kevin Erving. Zach’s and Allie’s Cabins, the little brother and sister restaurants of Beano’s, offer similar fare but different dishes, with each retaining its own individual specialties and personality.
*Beano’s, Allie’s, and Zach’s Cabins are currently closed for the 20/21 season to COVID-19.
2) Ragnar’s, Steamboat Springs, CO
True to the Yampa Valley’s Nordic heritage, Steamboat Resort hosts nightly sleigh rides to its Norweigan-inspired mid-mountain restaurant, Ragnar’s. Located in the downstairs section of the Rendezvous Lodge, the menu at Ragnar’s is far from routine and although some of the dishes may be hard to pronounce, the cuisine is hearty, aromatic, and above all, the perfect way to warm up after the brisk sleigh ride across Sunshine Peak.
*Ragnar’s is currently closed for the 20/21 season to COVID-19.
3) Fireside Dining – Deer Valley, UT
Deer Valley Resort is known for elegance and its featured sleigh ride to the on-mountain restaurant Fireside Dining would make Cinderella jealous. The experience is the perfect way to close out a ski vacation at Deer Valley or Park City. Hop on the sleigh from the Empire Lodge Base Area and take in Deer Valley’s incredible sunsets before devouring fireside fondue, charcuterie, and assorted accouterments in an atmosphere that redefines the term cozy.
4) Two Below Zero – Breckenridge, CO
Located just outside of Breckenridge in Frisco, Colorado, TwoBelowZero Sleigh Rides offers guests an authentic sleigh ride adventure. Instead of a snowcat, the outfitter uses mules, making the ride that much more exhilarating in-between stops for incredible views of the Ten Mile Range. The menu is classic western fare with your choice of top sirloin or grilled chicken breast along with homemade soup, appetizers, and dessert.
*TwoBelowZero is currently closed for dinner the 20/21 season to COVID-19. They are available for afternoon hot cocoa rides.
5) Trail Creek Cabin – Sun Valley, Idaho
Located along the banks of its namesake creek, Trail Creek Cabin is accessed via horse-drawn sleigh and features a signature 4-course dinner that keeps people coming back year after year. Established in 1937, the cabin combines classic Idaho fare with an intimate dining experience that is perfect for celebrating an anniversary or holiday. However, what you’ll never forget about this incredible restaurant is its unparalleled views of nearby Sun Valley and Bald Mountain.
*Trail Creek Cabin is currently closed for the 20/21 season to COVID-19.
