FAMILY

Morning:

Rise and shine—it’s mountain time! Every day feels like Christmas morning on a vacation to Aspen Snowmass, so don’t count on too much shut-eye. Start your day with a delicious breakfast at The Lounge in the Limelight Snowmass Hotel. The best part? It’s complimentary if you’re staying at this trendy spot. The European-style breakfast buffet, with its spread of cereals, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, pastries, yogurt and plenty of coffee, will make you feel like you’re in the Alps. Seconds (or even thirds) for the whole family are always welcome!

After fueling up, head over to the Snowmass Treehouse. This 25,000-square-foot facility is a paradise for kids and serves as the base for the Aspen Snowmass Ski & Snowboard School. It offers everything from ski school and daycare services to rental equipment, retail and family-friendly après-ski entertainment. Conveniently located at the base of Snowmass Village, it blends fun, learning and ease, allowing families to drop off the kids and enjoy the slopes or other activities nearby.

Afternoon

Head to the top of the Elk Camp Gondola for family fun, including trying out a new method of gliding down the mountain by tubing or try a thrilling ride on the Alpine Coaster, perfect for a break from skiing and riding. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, enjoy a mouth-watering signature cheeseburger or warm chili at Elk Camp, where you can relax on the patio and enjoy the stunning views. This area also provides access to a beginner learning zone, or you can cruise down the long green run, Funnel Bypass if that’s more your speed.

Need a break from the slopes? Take some time to relax or have fun at the hotel pool. Most pools in Aspen Snowmass are heated year-round, allowing you to swim or unwind while snowflakes fall around you and skiers glide down the mountain. If you’re staying at the popular ski-in, ski-out Electric Pass Lodge, families will especially enjoy the unique waterslide into the heated pool.

Where to find après-ski

The family fun doesn’t stop on the mountain. Check out Snowmass’ newest neighborhood, The Collective. This vibrant community hub offers a fun mix of free entertainment, dining and unique activities, as well as a game lounge, entertainment, art exhibitions, and apres-ski activities for the whole family to enjoy. Located conveniently in the heart of Snowmass Village, kids and teens will love the unique selfie lounge, filled with selfie stations featuring bright lights and glitter to spice up some fun photo ops (as if you haven’t already filled your camera roll with stunning mountain shots). The game lounge is always a fan favorite, with foosball, pool, ping pong, and arcade games for the more competitive family members. Other activities, including live music, comedy shows, and trivia nights, add to the unique and lively apres-ski atmosphere.

Where to eat:

After an action-packed day on the mountain, you’ve likely worked up an appetite, and Snowmass Village offers plenty of dining options for the whole family. For authentic, hearty mountain cuisine, head to the cherished local spot, The Stew Pot, known for its homemade soups, cozy stews, and a mouth-watering kids’ menu. If you’re in the mood for something more upscale, Aurum Food & Wine is a family favorite, offering large portions, a welcoming staff, and a refined yet comfortable ambiance.

Where to stay:

Snowmass Village is renowned for its abundance of convenient ski-in ski-out accommodations. Our Mountain Travel Experts recommend the Limelight Hotel Snowmass, located just steps from the Elk Camp Gondola in the heart of the village. This modern, trendy hotel offers a perfect blend of luxury and convenience, featuring family-friendly amenities such as a kids’ game area, a climbing wall and a year-round heated outdoor pool.

POWDER

Morning:

After stretching and gearing up for a powder-filled day, head to Paradise Bakery in downtown Aspen, locally owned and a local favorite since 1981. Grab a hearty breakfast burrito and strong coffee to go before heading to Aspen Highlands Ski Resort to catch the first chair. With fresh powder on the slopes, it’s the perfect day to hit the iconic Highlands Bowl.

Good thing you fueled up with a hearty breakfast because reaching Highlands Bowl requires a 782-vertical-foot hike in your ski boots. The effort is well worth it, as you’re rewarded with 270 acres of powder paradise. Known for its serious terrain, the bowl gets more snow than any other in-bounds area at Aspen’s four resorts and offers some of the steepest descents in Colorado—perfect for an epic day on the mountain.

Afternoon:

After enjoying the powder playground in the Highlands Bowl, you’ll have worked up an appetite for a hearty lunch. Head over to Aspen Mountain, also known as Ajax, to refuel and catch some afternoon groomers. Bonnie’s, a charming 1960s-era eatery, is a popular spot for breakfast and lunch. Ski down to this soulful restaurant for some of the best on-mountain comfort food. Warm up with a cup of their famous white bean chili while relaxing on the two-tiered outdoor deck, taking in views of skiers gliding down Aspen’s pristine terrain.

Where to find après-ski

After a successful day on two of Aspen Snowmass’ renowned resorts, finish your final run down the blue cruiser, Little Nell, and ski right into the après-ski scene. Ajax Tavern is the perfect spot, blending Aspen glamour with an energetic ambiance that keeps the mountain spirit alive. The party starts at lunch and continues into the evening as skiers gather to celebrate. Indulge in their famous truffle fries, or if you’re extra hungry, go for the renowned double Wagyu cheeseburger. For something lighter, the onion soup gratin is a cozy choice, best paired with a Lavender Daze Martini or one of their unique cocktails.

Where to eat:

For a mouth-watering BBQ, head to a local favorite, the historic White House Tavern. Located in the A.G. Sheppard House, built in 1883 on a lot purchased for just $300, this former miner’s cottage is one of Aspen’s oldest structures. Though small, this cozy restaurant serves some of the tastiest food in town. Since they don’t take reservations, arrive early or put your name in while exploring town. Try the dip duo if you enjoy a spicy kick in your queso or the crispy chicken sandwich. Pair it with an Aperol Spritz while watching the snow fall through the windows.

Where to stay:

Stay at The Gant for the convenience of being near the mountain without the price of true ski-in, ski-out accommodations. Just a 7-minute walk from the Silver Queen Gondola, The Gant offers a range of rooms, from Standard for budget-conscious travelers to Deluxe and Premier for a more upscale experience. You’ll enjoy easy access to exceptional skiing and Aspen’s charming downtown, complimentary airport transfers, and an in-town shuttle service.

LUXURY

Morning:

Relax, sleep in, and embrace the essence of vacation—a complete escape from reality. Start your day with a nourishing smoothie and coffee from Unravel Coffee, then take a peaceful stroll through Aspen as you make your way to the St. Regis for some well-deserved pampering. Visit the RAKxa Spa to recover from the slopes, indulge in relaxation, or simply spoil yourself. Unique treatments include the RAKxa Tension Release, which uses pressure and acupressure to improve circulation and ease muscle tension; the RAKxa Good Night Sleep, designed to combat jet lag and altitude effects for restorative rest; and the Seven Chakra Hot Stone Massage, perfect for balancing energy and relieving sore muscles. After all, you’re on vacation—you deserve it!

Afternoon:

After a morning of pure relaxation, it’s time to head to Aspen Highlands for a few easy runs before the real fun begins. Soak in the mountain views as you glide down the slopes, then make your way to Cloud Nine for their final seating at 1:45 p.m. This charming mountain cabin may look quaint, but don’t be fooled—it’s known for its lively atmosphere. Enjoy a European Alps-inspired menu featuring fondue, raclette, steak tartare, and caviar. Save room for a classic strudel and, of course, plenty of champagne. As guests finish their gourmet meals, the legendary après-ski party kicks off. Expect dancing on tables, champagne spraying, and music at full blast. There’s truly no après party like a Cloud Nine apres party!

Where to find après-ski

Once you’ve dried off or changed out of your champagne-soaked clothes, keep the après vibe alive by heading to the iconic Hotel Jerome and its trendy speakeasy, Bad Harriet. Named after Harriet Wheeler, the wife of the hotel’s original developer, Jerome B. Wheeler, this bar pays tribute to powerful women throughout history. With its chic ambiance, Bad Harriet offers handcrafted cocktails and small bites designed to captivate your taste buds. Try one of their rare spirits to truly embark on an après-ski adventure that envelops your senses in luxury and sophistication.

Where to eat:

Who knew Colorado was a sushi hotspot? Head over to Kenichi, located at the base of Aspen Mountain, for some world-class Japanese cuisine. Since its opening in 1992, Kenichi has been a favorite for both locals and visitors seeking fresh seafood in a stylish setting. One of the original owners ensures that only the freshest, finest fish is served—a promise that holds true today. This trendy local spot is loved by all who visit. Try their signature sushi rolls, or venture into creative dishes like lobster tacos or wagyu beef bites for a taste of some of the best authentic Japanese food Colorado has to offer.

Where to stay:

Conveniently located at the base of Aspen Mountain and steps from high-end shops and restaurants, the W Aspen offers the perfect blend of comfort and style.
