About Loon Mountain

Surrounded by New Hampshire’s famous White Mountains, Loon Mountain offers two 2,000-plus-foot peaks with diverse terrain serviced by 12 lifts, including a four-passenger gondola and three high-speed quads, 61 trails spread over 370 skiable acres and a vertical drop of 2,100 feet. 

The resort features three peaks: North Peak, Loon Peak, and South Peak, ensuring a variety of experiences from gentle slopes for beginners to more challenging trails for advanced skiers. The efficient lift system, including the Kancamagus 8, New England’s first 8-person chairlift, zips you to the top of the mountain in now time at all. Over the last couple years, several million dollars have been invested into snowmaking capacity. 

Loon is just two hours from Boston, making it an easy day trip or stop on a New England ski resort tour. Loon’s Adventure Center offers cross-country skiing trails, snowshoe rentals and tours, ice skating and an indoor climbing wall. There is also lift-served and walk-up tubing which is perfect for families, couples and singles alike. Additionally, The Lincoln-Woodstock area also offers a host of family fun.

How to get to Loon Mountain

Located a quick two hours from Boston’s Logan International Airport (BOS), three hours from Montreal and five hours from New York City, Loon is acclaimed by SKI Magazine readers as one of the East’s most accessible resorts. To maximize your time on Loon’s world-class slopes, we recommend flying into Logan International Airport. Once you’re on the ground in Boston you can rent a car and drive the remaining leg of the journey along Interstate 93.

Getting around

Loon Mountain Resort offers a complimentary shuttle service to and from select lodging properties on the weekend.. The shuttle connects the Octagon Lodge in the main village, Governor Adams Base, and South Peak.

Loon Mountain is big by East Coast standards; this popular resort boasts 2,100 vertical feet on 61 trails. The resort offers every type of skier their ideal terrain: 20 percent is designated as beginner, 60 percent is intermediate and 20 percent is expert. A Loon ski vacation is ideal for freestylers, as the resort is home to seven award-winning terrain parks and a 425-foot long Superpipe with 18-foot walls.

The expansion introduces 11 new trails, over 60% of which are green level, ensuring that there are plenty of options for those starting out.
