About Okemo

For a quaint New England ski vacation Okemo is the best fit. Located in the village of Ludlow in South-central Vermont and surrounded by farmland and granite quarries, Okemo was originally a small community-run ski hill. Purchased in 1982 by the Mueller family, who also owns Crested Butte, the resort has since been transformed into a popular, world-class resort destination. The resort is still family-owned and -operated, and it shows. In addition to its family-friendliness, Okemo is known for its excellent customer service, grooming and vast intermediate terrain.

First tracks are practically guaranteed when staying slopeside on Okemo Mountain. And each ski in, ski out lodging accommodation has access to a pool. The brand new Jackson Gore Base Area lodge offers incredible services including its own trails, lifts, Learning Center, restaurants, day care center and shops. Okemo’s journey began in 1955, kicking off operations in 1956 with just two Poma lifts and a few inches of snow. Through the ‘60s, it expanded with more lifts and the first chairlift in 1965. Despite tough times in the '70s, Tim and Dianne Mueller revived the resort in 1982, preserving its historic charm while modernizing its facilities.

Standing tall with the largest vertical drop in southern Vermont at 2,200 feet, Okemo spans 123 trails across 667 acres. Trails are well-balanced for all levels, and 98% of the terrain features state-of-the-art snowmaking. Mountain Road, a 4.5-mile trail, offers scenic views and winter fun. Renowned for its impeccable grooming, Okemo ensures a top-notch experience on the slopes. At this Vermont ski resort you can also treat yourself to snowmobiling, dog sledding, cross country skiing, shopping, spa services, fine dining and more.
