As ski season continues to creep around the corner, the Ikon Pass continues to gain momentum by adding more resorts. Just today they’ve grown their already impressive collection of international ski destinations with the inclusion of Sun Peaks, Canada and Grandvalira, Andorra.
Sun Peaks is in British Columbia, Ikon’s 5th partner in the region, and their 10th partner in Canada, not to mention the second-largest ski resort in the country. Grandvalira in Andorra is positioned among the southern peaks of the Pyrenees Mountains and between France (to the north and east) and Spain (to the south and west).
Noteworthy aspects of Sun Peaks include its over 4,200 acres of terrain, two alpine bowls, 126 runs and Rockstar Energy Terrain Park. Weather-wise, Sun Peaks receives around 2,000 hours of sunshine a year and averages 220 inches of snow. For Après, Sun Peaks has a Euro-style village at its base with over 20 restaurants and an array of boutiques to peruse. Plus, local eateries tend to incorporate local products in their dishes, further enhancing the Canadian experience.
Grandvalira offers its guests over 200 km of terrain, 127 runs, three snowparks (including one open in the evenings) and 12 km areas of freeride skiing. The resort averages over 196 inches of snow each season, plus has an expansive offering of ski school lessons. Après options include 60 restaurants and eateries to pick from, including gourmet and family-style meals, after a long day on the mountain.
